Aim of the research: To reveal neuroendocrine disorders rate in patients with different pituitary adenomas retrospectively.
Patients and methods: We analyzed 81 patients records with different pituitary adenomas from 2000 to 2009. Of 81 patients 23 were men (28.4%) and 58 women (71.6%). Mean age of male patients was 37.2 years-old whereas in women this was 34.5 years-old.
1st group of patients was with Cushings disease (CD) 33 (40.7%), 2nd group was with non-functioning pituitary adenoma (NFPA) 43 (53%), third group was with prolactinoma 4 (4.9%) and fourth group with acromegaly 1 (1.2%).
All patients underwent clinical assessment including hormonal evaluation, pituitary and adrenals imaging (CT, MRI), vision tests, densitometry etc.
Results: The most common complaints in examined patients were headache 64 patients (79%), dysmenorrhea in 30 (52%) of 58 women, artralgia in 34 patients (41.9%), heartache in 32 patients (39.5%), lack of energy in 29 patients (35.8%), dizziness in 24 patients (29.6%), eye ache in 20 patients (24.6%), bitemporal hemianopsia in 20 patients (24.6%), dry mouth in 12 patients (14.8%), constipation in 11 patients (13.5%), poliuria in 11 patients (13.5%), hair loss in 11 patients (13.5%), galactorrhea in 10 patients (12.3%), vision deterioration in 9 patients (11.1%), vision loss in 2 patients (2.4%), exterior scotoma in 2 patients (2.4%) etc.
Conclusions: Thus, retrospective analysis of patients with different pituitary adenomas showed variety of both clinical and neuroendocrine disorders.
