Objective: To estimate the value of the questionnaire QoL AGHDA, KIMS for revealing of GH deficiency (GHD) in adults for estimation of the condition of patients with various pituitary adenomas.
Material and research methods: We examined 72 adult patients with pituitary adenomas and GHD from 2008 till 2009. From them there were 30 men (41.6%), and 42 women (58.3%). Middle age was 38.0 years.
Research methods included: i) Clinical, ii) instrumental (perimetry, electrocardiogram, CT/MRI of cella turcica, etc.), iii) hormonal blood tests (GH, IGF1, LH, FSH, TSH, ACTH, prolactin, etc. iv) biochemical blood tests (HDL, LDL, cholesterol, TG, calcium, etc.), v) the questionnaire of quality of a life QoL AGHDA, KIMS.
Research results: Our patients were divided into 4 groups: 1st group 39 (54.1%) patients which received conservative therapy (bromocriptin, cabergoline), 2nd group 21 (29.1%) patients undergone THE, 3rd group 4 (5.5%) patients which received radiation therapy, 4th group 8 (11.1%) patients undergone THE and radiation therapy.
Quality of life assessment on the basis of questionnaire of GHD QoL AGHDA in 72 patients of the 4 groups revealed, that in the 1st group mean score was 16.3 points, in the 2nd 13, in the 3rd 22.5, and in the 4th 16.3 points. So, in all groups the mean score QoL AGHDA was above admissible norm (normally <11 points). The highest mean score (22.5 of 25) was revealed among patients of the 3rd group.
Conclusion: The Questionnaire QoL AGHDA of GHD revealing in adults is a reliable method of estimation of quality of life and psychological status of adult patients with GHD before treatment.
