Ken K Y Ho, University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia Abstract
Ken Ho is a professor of Medicine at the University of New South Wales and is the Head, Pituitary Research Unit, Garvan Institute of Medical Research and Chairman, Department of Endocrinology, St. Vincent's Hospital, Sydney.
He graduated in medicine at the University of Sydney in 1975, undertook research studies towards a Doctorate in Medicine at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research and postdoctoral studies at the University of Virginia. Dr Ho's major research interests are pituitary disease and the hormonal regulation of energy metabolism and body composition. A major thrust of his research programme is the elucidation of the physiology of GH in adults and the detection of GH abuse in sport.
He has been an invited speaker at national and international meetings including those of the US, the British, German and the International Endocrine Society. He was the Clinical Endocrinology Trust Professor of the British Endocrine Society in 2000. He is the keynote speaker for the 2008 Irish Endocrine Society. He has participated in international consensus panels providing guidelines on the diagnosis and treatment of adult GH deficiency and on the management of acromegaly.
He is a founding member and current president of the International Growth Hormone Research Society, and immediate past-president of the Endocrine Society of Australia.
