Similarities between the metabolic syndrome and Cushings syndrome, and reversibility of the features of Cushings syndrome, suggest that cortisol may contribute to pathophysiology in both conditions and that reducing cortisol action may provide a novel therapeutic approach in metabolic syndrome.
