SFEBES2007 Clinical and Basic Review Lectures Applications of proteomics in translational research (1 abstracts)
Beatson Institute & University of Glasgow, Glasgow, United Kingdom.
Proteomics has now established itself as useful tool for many applications ranging from basic science to clinical studies. I will discuss the advantages and limitation of proteomics and give examples of its applications. These will include the use of proteomics to analyse protein interactions and map cellular signalling pathways; to analyse tissues; and to biomarker discovery in the clinic. All these areas have experienced a rapid development and expansion in the last years delivering exciting results and expanding our toolbox for the systematic generation of both knowledge and applications.
