K Morohashi, National Institute for Basic Biology, Okazaki, Japan. Abstract
Ken Morohashi received a PhD from the Department of Biology, Graduate School of Science, Kyushu University in 1986. After studying regulation of steroidogenic genes with Prof. Omura, he was invited as a professor of the Division of Sex Differentiation by the National Institute for Basic Biology, National Institutes for Natural Sciences in 1996. His laboratory studies the mechanisms for the seteroidogenic tissue developmental and sex differentiation of the gonads from a wide range of aspects. As a result of the importance of the research field for sex differentiation, a research project to study molecular mechanisms of sex differentiation was selected as one of the Priority Areas of Scientific Research by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Japan. Currently, 46 research groups are supported by this grant, and he has been the representative of the research grant. He serves as Associate Editor of the newly established journal Sexual Development.
