Since 2003 Christian J Strasburger has been Division Chief and Professor of Clinical Endocrinology at the Department of Medicine at Charité-Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Germany. He graduated from the Medizinische Universität Lübeck, Germany and trained in internal medicine and endocrinology at the Universities of Lübeck and Munich. He received basic science training at the endocrine laboratories in Lübeck and as a MINERVA Fellow of the Max-Planck-Foundation at the Department of Hormone Research, Weizman Institute of Science, Rehovot, Israel (1986–1988). Continuing his clinical education at the University of Munich from 1990 onwards, he became head of the neuroendocrine unit there in 1993. Dr Strasburger's focus of interest is pituitary diseases and in particular growth hormone related disorders as well as the investigation of the structure-function relationship of peptide hormone interactions with their respective receptors.
Dr Strasburger has authored more than 130 original articles and more than 20 book chapters. He serves on the editorial boards of European Journal of Endocrinology, Pituitary, GH- and IGF-Research and Journal of Endocrinological Investigation. He presently serves on the council of the Growth Hormone Research Society and the European Neuroendocrine Association and is a past council member of the German Society for Endocrinology.
