Objective:The clinical observations suggest that there is statistically significant correlation between Diabetes Mellitus(DM)type and the type of treatment on one hand, and the average duration of occurence of the chronic complications on the other hand.

Material and Methods:The studied groups comprised that 1315 subjects who represent all the patients suffering from Diabetes Mellitus(DM),under the observation of Diabetic Center in Oradea.

Results:The studied groups comprised 79 subjects with Diabetes Mellitus Type 1(DM 1)and 1236 subjects with Diabetes Mellitus Type 2(DM 2).The chronic vascular complications of any type appear in average of 5.4years with DM 1 and with DM 2 appear in average of 4.3years p<0.05-statistically significant. The chronic metabolic complications of any type appear in average of 7.1years in the DM 1,and with DM 2 appear in average of 2.6years p<0.001-statistically significant. For all the chronic complications irrespective of their type the average duration of occurence in the DM 2(7.1years)is statisticallty significant comparatively with DM 1(10.3years-p<0.001).

Conclusions:1.In the DM 2 with or without insulin comparatively with DM 1 the average duration of occurence of all types of chronic complications is lower statistically significant.

2.After 20 years of development of DM 1 (25%)presents all type of chronic complications while with subject with DM 2 all chronic complications occur 36.8%.

3.After 20years of development of DM 1 we witness chronic complications with all the patients with(DM 2)6.6% do not present any chronic complications.

4.Patients treated with insulin, the chronic complications develop later statistically comparatively with non-insulin patients.
